Get to know the existing markings on the trails of the Rota Vicentina and follow the right way!
There are four types of signposting used on the Walking Trails of the Rota Vicentina: right way, wrong way and change of direction to the left and right. The colour varies according to the type of trail.
When a Circular Route combines with the Historical Way
Rota Vicentina also has more than 1000 km of Cycling Trails – MTB and Gravel – in the municipality of Odemira. About 20% of the trails are marked on the ground.
Certification
MTB Centre recognised by the Portuguese Cycling Federation (FPC)
Orientation
Indication of the direction to follow, which may appear in the following colours: yellow (MTB trail), red (Long Distance MTB Trail) or brown (trails in protected areas)
Colour of the degree of difficulty
Level of difficulty of the trail: green (easy), blue (moderate), red (difficult) or black (very difficult).
When you browse the Rota Vicentina website or the OutdoorActive platform, you will find a classification of the grades of difficulty of the MTB Trails with a different colour code from the one you find on the terrain. Please take into account the written degree of difficulty.

Additional signposting
In order to meet the information and orientation needs of walkers, the markings may include other signals, directional and warning signs, particularly at the starting points and at the intersections with other trails.
Information panels
The panels are placed at the beginning and end of each trail and provide useful information about the trails and the region.

The maintenance of the signposting of the pedestrian trails of the Rota Vicentina is regularly done by volunteers and caretakers. Should you find any signposting faults, please do not hesitate to contact us.
