Snack-bar Adélia

Are you walking between Zambujeira do Mar and Almograve? Adélia's Snack-bar is a kind of oasis in the middle of the Fishermen's Trail and a mandatory stop for anyone looking to recharge their batteries.

Located in the village of Cavaleiro, this is an unpretentious café, with a sunny terrace, where food is quick but comfortable. The menu varies depending on what the land offers (and the cook's mood!) and most products come from local producers, depending on the seasons.

But here there is more than food, you'll find all the atmosphere of the Alentejo taverns, the roadside refuges and the conviviality after a day of work (or walking).

There are toasts in Alentejo bread, steaks, omelets, salads, burgers, sandwiches, codfish cakes and other dishes well accompanied by the famous Cavaleiro's sweet potato. There are also plenty of options for vegetarians, including stewed beans with eggs and tofu sautéed with vegetables from the region's vegetable gardens. And when it's time for dessert, you can choose between homemade carob, almond or fig cakes, almond pie, and of course, a little 'medronho' (arbutus spirit) to go with it.

It is also common to find a lady in her 80s doing her lace and showing her work to passersby. It is the mother of Ms.Ondina, the owner. The Adélia Snack Bar is open all year from 6 am, this is the ideal place to eat well, without getting too far out of the way.
