Herdade do Cebolal
Visits and Wine tasting
The history of Herdade do Cebolal goes back to 1876 when the wine production in this property began. Always in the same family and with the same passion, production and development are currently guaranteed by the 4th and 5th generation of producers, Isabel and Luís.
This property is located 10km from the sea, in a valley between the Sierra de Santiago and the Serra do Cercal, and the 23ha vineyard faces south where the sea winds give the wines freshness and high acidity. The type of soil gives the wine important characteristics of complexity and intensity of aromas with a certain minerality.
Despite the familiar nature of Herdade do Cebolal and the maintenance of traditions, the new technologies are also an essential presence to guarantee the innovation necessary to the present times. The deep wine knowledge associated with values, ethics, responsibility and respect for man and nature gives rise to this patrimony that identifies them as family.
Here, special wines are tasted in an environmentally friendly philosophy where all work is carried out in a spirit of integrated protection minimizing the consequences for the environmental impact, this being a certified vineyard.

Summary
Wine tasting: The tastings are varied and so are the possibilities for meals.
From the wine lunches or dinners, to the must tasting, or if you arrive here in the middle of the Harvest Festival, there will be plenty of entertainment! The experiences "Be a winemaker for a day" or "Make your own wine" are half-day activities, or you can combine them for a full day. Already on another level of gastronomic experiences, the 'Cocaria' is the queen. This is a typical meal, cooked over a very slow fire, usually under a griddle, it recreates the typical meals of field work, who arrived early, left what they brought (vegetables, a loaf of bread, a little meat or fish) and everything was in the care of a single person, who in the meantime stayed on the "coca", waiting to see the people return from the field and deliver the small clay pot with the individual meals of each worker and the respective contents. A delight to the eyes, to the aromas, and to the palates. Unmissable!
