Restaurant 44 can easily be recognized as a small oasis along the long Arrifana<<–>>Carrapateira stage of both the Historical Way and the Fishermen’s Trail. Midway through the route, walkers can enjoy a light meal accompanied by a freshly squeezed orange juice to regain energy before continuing their journey, or choose to stay at the charming Barranco da Fonte accommodation.
For a more complete meal, advance booking with prior menu selection is required, but there is no shortage of options, inspired by the flavours of both the sea and the land.
From the famous vegetable or octopus cataplanas, to the iconic monkfish rice, the traditional Algarve-style seafood xerém, and the freshest fish from the nearby coast, every dish is carefully prepared.
Before leaving, make sure to try the homemade cakes prepared on site, including the traditional Algarve almond tart, so you have all the energy you need for the next stage of the journey.
