João Pedro Costa was born in Sagres half a century ago and currently spends his time between Sagres, Portimão and Bordeira. It is a collector of images of the grandiose and unique natural landscape of Costa Vicentina with its imposing and inaccessible cliffs continuously buffeted by the ocean sea. He feel attracted by the shapes, textures, colors, but above all, by the eternal dance that sunlight plays in these places throughout the year. With no academic training in photography, he learned by trial and error and the pleasure of discovering and contemplating these sites on his own, refined his technique.
Many of his photographs are part of private collections. In the year 2000 he began to photograph the raw and wild nature of the Costa Vicentina, cliffs and secret corners that only the most fearless fishermen and barnacles know. .As part of the Festa das Plantas and at the invitation of the Tertúlia association, João Pedro Costa shares in this exhibition his view of trees, supreme beings, which connect the underground to the sky to where they rise with their twisted trunks, inspiring proof of resilience.
28th July to 7th August - Monday to Saturday 10am to 4:30pm
