Sopa de Pedra is a music research group made up of 10 women. Through polyphonic arrangements of traditional Portuguese music, performed a cappella, they explore the richness of the traditional legacy, referring it to the context of today's world music.
As in the popular tale that gives them their name, Sopa de Pedra comes in different formats. The repertoire includes oral music, from Mirandese chants from Trás-os-Montes, Azorean ballads, adufeira songs from Beira Baixa to the Alentejo chant; the repertoire of Zeca Afonso, Amélia Muge, João Lóio, Almanaque and GAC.
