Pop Dell'Arte is a musical project created by João Peste at the beginning of 1985. In that same year, they competed for the 2nd edition of the Modern Music Competition of Rock Rendez-vous, having won not only the prize for originality of the competition , but critical attention and a legion of followers that followed them wherever they played. “It is necessary to love the contradictions”, as was said in one of his most emblematic songs, Illogik Plastik, and this was exactly the spirit of this transgressive project, which mixed the most disparate and contradictory musical influences with phonetic poems of given and futuristic inspiration, evocations of Warhol, Duchamp and Picabia, cinematic references to Fassbinder, Antonioni and Fellini. In their nearly 30-year career, Pop Dell'Arte have given several historic concerts in Lisbon (Rock Rendez-vous, Aula Magna, Music Box, Ritz Club, Cinema Alvalade, Forum Roma) and also in Porto (Teatro Rivoli, Mercado Ferreira Borges, Aniki Bó-Bó, Cinema Passos Manuel) and elsewhere in the country (Aveiro, Coimbra, Évora, Braga, Leiria) and abroad (Barcelona, London, Vigo). ¤ Pop Dell’Arte return with a new show, “Transgressio Days”, and with the same idealism as always and the much-loved contradictions of these and other times. ¤ Current formation: João Peste (Voice), Zé Pedro Moura (Bass), Paulo Monteiro (Guitars & Samplers), Ricardo Martins (Drums & Percussions)
