Comodoro Amigo is the project of the multi-instrumentalist Rui Dinis, precipitated by the first confinement of 2020, making it his mantra: “resist through Art”. The musician and composer has had an artistic residency since 2015 at one of the most important cultural associations in the Algarve - Laboratório de Actividades Criativas (former Lagos prison), with the indie project “Staccato Limão”. Yes, it is yet another project catalyzed by the confinement dictated by the pandemic. But Comodoro decided to go further with the “Do it Yourself” concept imposed by isolation: in addition to taking on the composition, recording and interpretation of all the songs, he literally put his hands to work to, with the bricolage possible, acoustically transform a of the divisions of his house in the production headquarters of this project. He also repaired his first keyboard - an ingenuous Bontempi AZ1100 - and his first guitar, adding it to another built from scratch with his father to, together with some instruments ""on the shelf"", form the arsenal that gives this project a unmistakable aesthetic.
Despite the individual approach at the project's genesis, live it performs with a luxury group: keyboardist Lana Gasparotti (winner in her own name of Festival Emergente 2021) and guitarist / bassist Pedro Barroso (founding member of the renowned fusion big band Plasticine).
The project also has 2 collaborations with plastic artists: Cruzes (in the production of a joint video using Instagram Stories only) and NEVRO (through the composition of themes for 2 exhibitions in London and Milan).
M-PeX is a musician, composer and producer whose distinctive musical identity is the Portuguese guitar, positioning it as a solo instrument in diverse sound aesthetics, including electronic environments also created by him. Experimentalism and extensive improvisation, using effects pedals and loops, are also part of his artistic expression. His creations try to modernize and globalize the Portuguese guitar, culminating in an innovative musical confluence.
