Rota Vicentina is a network of walking trails in Sw Portugal,with more than 400 km to walk, along the most beautiful and best preserved coastline of Southern Europe. Comprising the Historical Way, the Fishermen’s Trail and several Circular Routes, proposes a unique experience of two worlds, between a living and authentic rural culture and a surprisingly wild coastline – fully within Sw Alentejo and Vicentina Coast Natural Park.

Day 01 - Arrival at Faro
Arrive at Faro airport. You can go by train from Station of Faro to Station of Lagos, then you can get the bus from Lagos to Odeceixe village.
Private Transfer from Faro Airport to Odeceixe (optional).
Overnight in Odeceixe.
Day 02 Walking Route 1: Odeceixe » Aljezur (22km)
Today you will be walking along Mira’s watering channel, fed by the waters of Santa Clara’s dam. You can see for miles around you, with the mountains to the east and the ocean to the west. You’ll have a choice between two complementary circuits that will take you to the coastal cliffs and allow you to get to know Odeceixe and Amoreira beaches.
Overnight in Aljezur.
Day 03 Walking Route 2: Aljezur - Ponta da Atalaia circuit - Arrifana (20km)
This day you will cross scented valleys and small farms as you approach the coast, already guessing where the route will take you in the following days.
The exit of the village allows you to admire the valley of the Aljezur river which extends to the Amoreira beach and to imagine what it would have been like in Aljezur in the 15th century.
You will pass by an extension of the Fishermen’s Trail, the Ponta da Atalaia circuit, and pass by the beach of Monte Clérigo and the mythical Ponta da Atalaia. In a place marked by the strength of legends and the time of the Portuguese conquest of the Moors, this walk is a real trip back in time.

Day 04 Walking Route 3: Arrifana - Carrapateira (24km)
On this Historical Way section of the route, In this admirable section there is the con¬stant and simultaneous presence of the hills and the sea, pristine nature and the unique presence of man.
Pedra da Agulha seen from Canal beach, Vale Figueira’s vast sand stretch revealed during low tide and a succession of hills and valleys, confirm the most aggressive and inaccessible side of this coastal area. Upon arrival, a privileged view over Bordeira beach’s sand dunes and the creek that meets the ocean here, in a setting that repeats itself over and over again and characterizes Vicentina Coast’s beaches.

Day 05 Walking Route 4: Carrapateira - Vila do Bispo (22 km)
After magnificent views over Bordeira beach, the beauty of pristine valleys, where one can barely feel the human presence, the picturesque villages of Vilarinha and Pedralva, you will be ready to face the strong winds that are expected with the arrival in Vila do Bispo. A section where is possible to experience the essence of the Vicentina Coast. When crossing the forest perimeter of Vila do Bispo, go quietly and use binoculars because wildlife sightings are likely, especially birds.

Day 06 Walking Route 5: Vila do Bispo - Cape of São Vicente - Sagres (19km)
You will be walking towards the south western tip of Europe. This is a magical place where one can almost hear the echoes of the voices of sailors and pilgrims. Monumental cliffs, outstanding views over the coastline and a privileged area to watch the natural phenomenon of autumn bird migration.
You will follow an extension of the Fishermen´s trail, the Telheiro Beach Circuit, with monumental cliffs, ravines covered with native vegetation, ancient rock formations and a memorable arrival to Cape St. Vincent by fishermen trails.
Finish your journey along Sw Portugal on an unforgettable way.

Day 07 Departure
After check-out you can take a train to Faro airport.
