Founded in June 1974 by José Vitorino, known as Tranquitanas, the restaurant began as a canteen and meeting place for the fishermen who lived in the village of Entrada da Barca, in Zambujeira do Mar. It was here that the fishing community gathered: the fish just brought in from the sea was prepared in the kitchen, and, among stories of the ocean, moments of rest and camaraderie were shared.
More than 50 years later, its essence remains. The restaurant continues to work with local fishermen, favoring fresh fish and seafood from the coast, always respecting seasonality, while also offering a carefully selected range of meats and fresh products. Today, the second and third generations of the family, Arménio Silva and Miguel Reis Silva, lead A Barca Tranquitanas with the same spirit: excellent produce, attentive yet relaxed service, views over the sea, and a thoughtfully curated wine cellar, with special focus on wines from micro-producers.
