Oficial opening Semana ID
Par Rota Vicentina
Event by invitation.
At km 0 of the Vicentine Route you set off to discover ID Week and the town with the greatest historical and cultural interest of the Alentejo Coast. The Church is the meeting point for a welcome walk on the Historical Santiago Circular Route: through narrow streets and manor houses, the heritage of the land dominated by the Moorish Kassem between the 8th and 12th centuries is revealed. From the castle, which dates from the Islamic period, you can see the plain and the sea, the Church founded by the order of Santiago in the 12th century, an example of the Romanesque-Gothic style, both national monuments. Part of the route is made through nature trails and is accessible and considered an easy level. The departure is scheduled for 2.30 p.m. in the main church square and will last approximately two and a half hours. The opening ceremony for Semana ID is scheduled for 5.30pm at the Sociedade Recreativa Filarmónica União Artística, in yet another reference to the identity of the territory. Founded in 1897, it is an integral part of the history of this city, where the first automobile arrived in Portugal two years earlier (1895). Here were born love stories, generations of musicians and is the place where even today dozens of children learn the art of playing an instrument. From there the view reaches the "Cerro Maior" of the writer Manuel da Fonseca, a native of the city. After the welcome, tasting of local products and time still for the premiere of the new promotional video of the Rota Vicentina "The landscape we chose", directed by Danilo Warick and the concert by Mariana Root, the artist invited to compose and give voice to this short film of the Rota Vicentina.
The video will also be premiered online that day, on Rota Vicentina's Youtube channel, so that we can share the good news around the world!
