The Algarve is a region of profound contrasts. From its rural and desertified interior, to the overcrowded concrete coastline and seasonally occupied houses. These are differences that shape experiences that are felt in the 21st century, which still seems like a distant future for a large part of the resident population. The media have evolved, the use of individual transport has become democratized and differences have diminished, but the reality has not changed significantly in recent decades with regard to collective transport.<\/p>\n

At a time when there is constant talk of electrifying the railway line, 2022 marks the centenary of the arrival of the train to Lagos, the westernmost point of such a path and one of the connecting factors of this Algarve, which is so permanently seasonal. We challenged two artists to build an approach to what mobility in the Algarve represents, 100 years after the opening of the end of the line to Barlavento, in Lagos: one resident in the Algarve and another who, not residing, has roots in the Algarve. .<\/p>\n
