The NW Headtrail of the MTB Network
This Headtrail contains mostly rural and forest paths and includes some of the longest single-tracks of the network, running through a wild landscape of preserved nature, with minimal human presence.sometimes through vast areas where human presence is scarce. You will visit small hidden villages like Monte da Estrada, Ribeira do Seissal, Silveiras, Troviscais, Vale Bejinha, etc …
The connection to the coast is covered by GPS trails, often providing stunning panoramas, and passing by points such as the Campilhas dam, Cercal, Porto Covo and its Fortress in the neighboring municipalities of Santiago do Cacém and Sines.
Further inland visit Senhora das Neves and Monte da Estrada.
On the trails marked on the ground, Ribeira do Torgal and the River Mira are considered to be special highlights of the network. You will visit each twice on the red route, the first of which is in the former river port of Casa Branca.
