West Mira

40,5 KM

The first part of this route is the same as the East Mira route, except that the West Mira passes the river. Like its twin route, this one is deceiving! With a first part almost flat and easy, and a very demanding second. It starts by crossing a small part of the town of Odemira, it continues along a short sec-tion on a very interesting single track, and then follows the Mira River along its right bank. The landscape is wonderful! Note that at 1.5 km in the course on the small single track there is a very narrow pas-sage along a small water channel. Consider carrying your bike here. Then continuing until 18.6 km the route crosses to the left bank of the river and changes in both landscape and demand, following the mountain in an almost perma-nent rise and fall. This section essentially runs through a region where human presence is rare and, in be-sides a Rural Tourism Lodge at 28 km, only crosses the village of Boavista dos Pinheiros around km 38, just before the final descent.
