Núcleo de Colos

42

Ribeira da Gema

8.5 KM

An easy route that makes a small foray into the countryside north of the village of Colos and to the Gema stream. It has a significant but small difficulty right after the second stream crossing, in the form of a climb of almost 500 m at 6%.Although short, the course provides an interesting variety of scenery, passing through several small farms, small cork oak groves, vast pastures and a small moor, amidst vegetation dominated mainly by cork oaks, holm oaks and olive trees. It has no single track but includes two forded river crossings that can make this course unviable or at least dangerous after heavy rains.

Important Advice

At the beginning and at the end, the route runs along and crosses some streets in the centre of Colos.

The rest of the course follows along paths and roads open to traffic, and occasionally you may find a car. Special attention is therefore recommended over the entire length of the route.

There may be a need to open livestock protection gates. Close them after passing.

After heavy rains this route can be unviable or even dangerous at the double forded stream crossing. If so, opt for the short green path.
