Foz do Torgal
Almost at the end of the trip, the route crosses the Torgal stream and reaches the mouth of the River Mira. Consider making a short stop there for a picnic. The landscape is magnificent and a rest in the shade helps you to regain strength.
By the way, take advantage of the pause to peek at the end of the stream: there are some curious floodgates that serve to regulate the flow of the water line, while avoiding the entry of salt water at high tide.
For novice cyclists, we advise that at start and finish of the route you walk with the bike on the stretch between the MTB Centre and the Health Centre, which relates to the first and last 450 metres.
Part of the route coincides with the Rota Vicentina’s walking trails – namely the Historic Trail (GR11) – so it is very likely that you will encounter walkers.
Note that this route does not pass through any site with shops or facilities, so you should stock up at the starting point in Odemira.
Points of support: Only in Odemira at the start and finish.
