Walking Meditations derive from the well-known Christian traditions with the pilgrimages to Fátima and the Caminho de Santiago, from the Sufis and Muslims in the walks to Mecca, as well as from the Buddhists in their daily rituals, among others. Today we use this wisdom alongside modern knowledge from mental health, psychology, and neuroscience to adapt simple awareness and stress reduction techniques. With the abundant presence of the 5 elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether in the environment of the Alentejo Litoral da Costa Vicentina, our senses are sharpened, our breathing in harmony with the elements and our nervous system reconfigured. On this Walking Meditation we will do breath and body awareness exercises and learn the 5 element breathing technique. We will walk along the trail in silence (no unnecessary conversation) with breath patterns, trying to walk in or with our heart rhythm. There will be a guided meditation.
